Ian’s career has focused on establishing initiatives that have a large-scale impact on complex social and environmental issues, primarily related to food, climate, and nature. He is a founding Director of Wasafiri, a leading systems change agency; and the co-author of Systemcraft, a practical framework for tackling humanity’s toughest problems. He’s the Director of the Good Food Hub, a global community of small businesses making food more nourishing, sustainable, equitable, and resilient; and led the small business engagement globally for the UN Food Systems Summit. Linked to Climate Summits, Ian has championed the scale up nature-positive food, including advising the Race to Zero and IMAGINE’s Food Collective of leading CEOs. Whilst working for the US, UK and German governments and the World Economic Forum, Ian played an instrumental role in establishing cross-sector collaboration for Africa’s agricultural transformation. Through his research on social change, Ian holds a MPhil from Newcastle University and is a Fellow of the RSA.
