Hinano Murphy is an expert in Tahitian cultural history. She grew up on Moorea and Tahiti, learning oral traditions from her elders. Formerly a school teacher and government advisor, she developed Tahitian language and culture programs. Hinano has also served as Associate Director at the UC Berkeley Gump Research Station and founded the Atitia Cultural Center. Currently, she leads cultural initiatives for Tetiaroa Society and has spoken at international events like World Oceans Day at the UN and IMPAC5 Congress.
